	<html:title>How the Earth was saved after all</html:title>
	<chapter>
		<caption>First contact</caption>
		<intro>Before anyone had the slightest idea that something was wrong, the space ship had already landed and the
			green aliens overran the blue fields of the red earth. Within twelve hours everyone had surrendered to eternally
			serve the aliens on their orchid farms.<html:br />
			Everyone...? No...!</intro>

		<html:p><name>Drawid Vruchineeya</name>, descendent of ancient <name>Gawanoka</name> Heroes had had an inkling of what
		was to come. The legends he had collected in his bathroom clearly spoke of a Star at Day, which would herald the
		coming of the Qwurps at Night. The star was, of course, the space ship that for several days had been clearly visible.
		The aliens turned out to call themselves <name>Arta-arta</name>, which was their translation of Qwurps. For Drawid,
		it had all been clear from the outset.
			<note>This last fact may surprise language students who know that vowel destabilisation in alien languages usually
			goes much faster than on Earth. For further information I refer to the article
			<html:a href="../js/contents.html" caption="JavaScript!">Towards a better understanding of the linguistical problems concerning the Arta-arta language</html:a> by
			<name>prof. Heidenmaecker</name>.</note>
		</html:p>

		<html:p>So Drawid was not surprised by the invasion. He gathered supplies for several hours, took his faithful mountain bike
		and went into the desert, where an old uncle of his still owned an abandoned mine. There he stayed for some time and
		considered the situation, while listening to the radio sending an ancient Arta-arta heroic tale. Since Drawid was, among
		other things, a gifted linguist, he thus learned the Arta-arta language, including the fiendishly difficult glottal stops.
		He assumed this knowledge would not be wasted in the days to come.</html:p>

	<chapter>
		<caption>The darkest hour</caption>
		<intro>So the whole of Earth was made into slaves, except for Drawid. What would his next step be...?</intro>

		<html:p>After his linguistical studies and half a minute of meditation, Drawid rose. "OK", he said, "Let's get on with
		it." After these powerful words he took his faithful Mountain Bike and rode to the nearest town, renamed <name>Froonta</name>
		by the aliens. He left his bike outside town and mingled in the stream of slaves who were just returning from the
		orchid farms.</html:p>

		<html:p>For the moment he kept silent and listened to the conversations of the slaves. Their main topic was the quality
		of the bread and related things. Drawid was surprised by this, until he saw a piece of bread. It was pyramid-shaped and
		had a dirty yellow colour. When the slave broke the bread, Drawid smelled that it was made out of fish, not out of bread.<html:br />
		"Strange case...", he mumbled.</html:p>

		<html:p>A few Arta-arta's armed with proton zappers led the slaves to the pigsties that were their homes.</html:p>
